Launching of the Youth Climate Justice Initiative in Lofa County

April 30 marked a significant milestone for our team at Youth Action Lead Liberia (YALL) as we officially launched the Youth Climate Justice Hub (CJH) in Lofa County, with activities focused in Zorzor and Salayea Districts.

The Climate Justice Hub is a key component of the YALL Climate Justice Project. It engages students and young people across selected schools, equipping them to take action on environmental and climate challenges within their schools and surrounding communities. Through this initiative, participants serve as CJH Ambassadors, young leaders committed to promoting sustainability, raising awareness, and driving grassroots change.

The launch in Lofa represents more than the start of a project; it underscores YALL’s commitment to strengthening community engagement and improving communication at the local level. By empowering residents, especially youth, to take ownership of climate issues, initiate a sense of responsibility and encourage locally driven solutions.

The ceremony formally introduced YALL and the CJH initiative to the two target communities and schools. It also included a Training of Trainers (ToT) session for students and community members, who are now equipped to act as ambassadors and advocates for climate justice within their respective areas.

The event brought together over 100 participants, including students, partner organizations, local government authorities, and media practitioners from both Zorzor and Salayea Districts. Their presence highlighted the growing interest in collaborative approaches to addressing environmental challenges in Lofa County.

This initiative forms part of the broader YALL Climate Justice Project on Legal Empowerment, funded by The Fund for Global Human Rights. Through this support, YALL continues to advance youth-led climate action and strengthen community resilience in Liberia Climate Justice
